The mine is adjacent to the Goldfields Highway at the Kathleen Valley Lithium – Tantalum Plant (Mine). The Mine comprises a 2.5 Mtpa Lithium–Tantalum Processing Facility, including power generation, accommodation village, open pit / underground mine, open pit / underground mine services areas, tailings storage facility and associated non-process infrastructure. The Project is in the northern Goldfields region of Western Australia, approximately 680 km NE of Perth, and 350 km northwest of Kalgoorlie as shown in Figure 1.1 below. Kathleen Valley (Site) is 22 km south of Mount Keith and 70 km north of Leinster.
Zenith has built and will operate the Kathleen Valley on-site power station which includes supply of renewable energy. The plant compromises 30MW of wind capacity, a 16MWp fixed axis solar PV array, and 17MW/19MWh battery energy storage system (BESS); and a thermal power component comprised of 27MW of gas generation, and 5MW of diesel standby generation.
